Charles Marion Griffith
Civil Air Transport - Assistant Station Manager at Hong Kong from May,1961 until about September,1967 with TDY's at C.A.T. Seoul (once-CAT), AAM Danang (twice) and AAM Nha Trang (once) as Acing Station Manager on a "home leave relief" type of duty.
Upon return to Hong Kong from my own home leave in the summer of 1967 was assigned to Savannakhet, Laos as Air America® Station Manager. This was during the Aerial Survey Project. I submitted my resignation which was effective about the end of December, 1968 at approximately the same time as the ASP was being terminated, unaware of the coincidence. Came home to an America greatly changed from 1961, and slowly adapted through this "culture shock". Am sure I wasn't the only one who came back to experience this "stranger at home" feeling after several years as an expatriate.
I want my family to remember my strong pride in being associated with such an outfit, which continues to this day.
